Throughout this web site, I have mentioned products which I consider to be useful and valuable to someone interested in independent living. I offer links to those products for sale on Amazon. (Because of the new law in Kalifornia that requires Amazon to pay sales tax on Internet purchases, I am no longer an Amazon Associate.)
Purchasing items for a possible emergency can be tricky. On the one hand, you don't want to spend a lot of money for something you hope you will never use. On the other hand, if you ever need to use it, you don't want it to fail. You can find cheap knock-offs, used items, or "surplus" gear somewhere else. I have only selected quality preparedness products that will perform their tasks in a safe and reliable manner when you need them the most.
The sustainable and independent living products I have chosen were selected for their long-term value. Quality products don't just last longer, they also perform better over the course of their useful life. The up-front cost may be greater, but the cost per year of service will be less.
Whenever possible, I will recommend products made in the USA. Some high quality products, however, are only available form foreign manufacturers in Europe and Asia. Unfortunately, with the loss of our industrial base, many necessary products are manufactured in foreign countries where quality standards may be lower. I will suggest those items, only if there is no better alternative.
